Most patients exploring lip enhancement are those with normal lip appearance who are simply desiring to enhance their existing lips. However, you may worry about having small lips, thin lips, or lips which appear aged and wrinkled. Many patients past the age of thirty begin to develop wrinkles in and around their lips along with a loss of fullness. Some of us are born with thinner lips.
Whether your choice is non-permanent or permanent (yet removable) lip augmentation, these treatments will enhance the shape, size and definition of your lips, through the use of an injectible filler or a lip implant.
There are basically two types of augmentation for lips:
Non-Permanent injectible fillers. Fillers for lips are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance found naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid fillers include: Restylane® and JUVEDERM®. In the lips, these fillers will typically last around 6 months.
Permanent Implants. Surgisil Perma Facial Implants™ are designed to be permanent, yet are easily removable. With a simple procedure, Dr. Roberts can remove the implants or replace the implants with a different size or length. The implants are natural feeling to yourself and to your mate.
Perma Facial Implant™ is a patented, FDA approved device and has undergone extensive clinical testing to ensure its safety and efficacy. Perma Facial Implant™ is made of a soft, solid silicone elastomer. It is a naturally contoured implant with a smooth, non-porous surface that cannot rupture or deflate. The implant is available in a variety of sizes for results that range from mild enhancement (to restore minor losses of lip volume) to full enhancement (for a voluptuous, “sexy” look).
Non-Permanent Lip Augmentation: A dermal filler or related material is injected into the lips. Local anesthesia is generally used by Dr. Roberts before lip injections, so that the procedure is painless. Recovery time is minimal and some may experience slight and temporary redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness. Swelling or bruising may last a few days.
Permanent Lip Implant: The lip augmentation procedure using a Perma Facial Implant™ implant can be performed under local anesthesia in our cosmetic surgery center. Two small incisions are made in the corners of the mouth. The implant is inserted through the incision, positioned and centered within the lip. Absorbable sutures are used in closing the incisions. The entire process typically takes less than an hour. Normal activity may be resumed the following day. However, social downtime is longer because lips may remain swollen and bruised for several days.
Although classified as a permanent implant, Perma Facial Implant™ is designed to be easily reversible should you choose to remove the implant.
If your choice is a permanent (yet removable) lip implant the effects of the implant will be immediately noticeable (after swelling subsides) providing you fuller, plumper, more youthful lips for years to come. Should you select a non-permanent injectible, the results will be noticeable immediately and will continue to improve over a period of time and will typically last up around 6 months.
A lip enhancement procedure can add suppleness to the lips in order to enhance your overall appearance. You may enjoy a sexier attitude with your fuller, more luscious lips.
